A NATIONAL AQUARIUM AND A NEW CATHEDRAL |
ASKRIGHT IN NEW ZEALAND
Through a rigorous tender process by Napier City Council, AskRIGHT was selected as the consultants for a new National Aquarium in Napier. If the project proceeds, AskRIGHT will help raise $40million towards the project. The project aims "to tell the nation's story through a combination of the Māori worldview and environmental science, but also other indigenous peoples of the Pacific".

Early this month, it was announced that a new $85 million Catholic cathedral will be built north of Cathedral Square in Christchurch to replace the earthquake-affected Christ Church Cathedral. While "the loss of the magnificent Barbadoes St basilica will be mourned" the new Cathedral will "reinvigorate the whole of Cathedral Square". AskRIGHT will continue to work with the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch to raise the funds for the project.

ASKRIGHT BOOKLETS
Is your nonprofit organisation expecting a new leader? Getting a new organisational leader (CEO/President) can be exciting and scary at the same time. For the fundraising manager or director, how one feels about this change can depend on how the fundraising is tracking. This free booklet (PDF) includes 10 tips that will help you and your organisation prepare for a new leader.
STRATEGY VERSUS SEAT WARMER | DR JASON KETTER
When a vacant board member position for a nonprofit organisation is filled as a result of a current board member asking a colleague or friend, it can imply that the board did not adequately reflect on the needs of the organisation in order to move forward in a financial and philanthropic direction. It is better to have an empty seat – while the board pursues the best candidate – than to have a ‘seat warmer’.

RULE #10: TEST FUNDRAISING COMMUNICATIONS | JEFF BUCHANAN
Perhaps the most frequently repeated mistake that fundraisers make is not making sufficient time to just talk with donors to understand more about why they give and what their interests are.
From The Rules of Fundraising (2017) by Jeff Buchanan. Read Rule #9 here.
